Here is a recipe for a festive salad with cod liver, which we often prepare for sudden guests or celebrations. This recipe is old, dating back to the times of the USSR, and its taste never loses its relevance. It only has four ingredients, but they combine so well that you don’t want to change anything. We always have a spare jar of cod liver in the refrigerator, and the rest is always on hand.

 

How to make this salad: Start with a can of cod liver in oil. It is important that it contains pieces of liver and not paste.

Open the jar, drain the oil and transfer the liver to a bowl. Mash with a fork to a paste.

We do not use oil from the jar for salad dressing to reduce fat content and remove excessive fishy smell.

Now we add rice, which is an unexpected ingredient for many. The rice should be crumbly, so wash it thoroughly and cook in plenty of water. When the rice is ready, rinse it with cold water through a colander.

The next step is to add boiled eggs, cut into small cubes.
