I’ve been cooking for 30 years, but I used the garlic press incorrectly: I’ll show you tricks to use it

I had no idea about the many hidden functions of this ancient device that I inherited from my grandmother. It’s not just for pressing garlic, but many resourceful people have found other uses for it.

I myself don’t particularly like garlic and don’t often use it in cooking. I am not one of those who consume garlic every day with black bread and lard, as my relative does.

I sometimes use garlic for pickling or cooking in a wok. I even prepare beetroot salad without garlic, just with mustard, lemon juice, sugar and butter, and it turns out delicious without any garlicky smell.

However, recently, while discussing a kitchen renovation with a friend, I decided to stew chicken with vegetables for dinner. I took garlic and my grandmother’s old garlic press.

Don’t judge strictly, my garlic press doesn’t look very presentable. I accidentally put it in the dishwasher and now it’s dull and won’t wash out. The handle says « N E R F », possibly indicating stainless steel, but it appears to be more of an aluminum alloy.

I started peeling the garlic, but my friend said: “Why? Just put the clove in the garlic press.”

Indeed, only the garlic pulp passes through the device, and the husk remains inside.

There is no need to clean anything and your hands stay clean.
