Nana’s Secret Ingredient Pot Roast
Nana used to put this on the dinner table all the time. Nobody could guess her ‘secret’ ingredient.
Ingredients:
- 3 to 4-pound beef chuck roast
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 medium carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 can (12 oz) Coca-Cola (yes, you read that right!)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 2 bay leaves
