I decided to show my imagination and abandon the clear shape, periodically turning the stripes in different directions.
This is what the work looked like at the very beginning, after the stripes of one color ran out, I added other colors to them.
With each stripe sewn on, the rug grew in size.
The reverse side also turns out neat.
The pile on the bike hides the threads that connect the stripes.
You can finish the work at any stage, the rug will be ready as soon as you make the last stitch, and if you wish, you can always continue the work.
