Easy Rock Candy Recipe

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves completely.
Add food coloring and extract if desired, stirring well.
Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then pour into a clean glass jar.
Dip the wooden skewers in the sugar solution, then roll them in granulated sugar to coat.
Place the skewers in the jar so they don’t touch the sides.
Cover the jar with a paper towel to prevent dust.
Let it sit undisturbed for about 7-10 days, until crystals form.
