Fried fish is already a thing of the past. I’m sharing a recipe for delicious fish in pita bread

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish:
    • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
    • Cut the fish fillet into portions and season them with salt and selected spices, rubbing the seasoning into the fish.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a bowl, beat 1 egg and mix it with mayonnaise and Dijon mustard until well combined.
    • Add grated cheese and chopped parsley to the mayonnaise mixture. Mix everything together.
  3. Assemble the Pita Wraps:
    • Lay out the pita breads on a clean surface.
    • Place onion and tomato rings evenly on each pita bread.
  4. Layer the Fish and Sauce:
    • Spoon the mayonnaise-cheese mixture evenly over the vegetables on each pita bread.
    • Place seasoned fish fillet portions on top of the sauce mixture.
  5. Wrap the Pitas:
    • Carefully fold the sides of each pita bread over the filling to create a wrap or envelope shape. Place each wrapped pita seam side down on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  6. Prepare the Egg Wash:
    • In another bowl, beat 1 egg and mix it with sour cream.
  7. Bake the Fish in Pita Bread:
    • Brush the top of each pita envelope with the egg-sour cream mixture.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the pita bread is golden brown and crisp.
  8. Serve:
    • Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
    • Optionally, sprinkle with additional chopped parsley and serve with a side salad or yogurt sauce.
