8. Reassemble the water filter holder with a new filter (if applicable) and reattach it to the machine.

9. Refill the water reservoir with fresh water and run a few cycles without a coffee pod to rinse out the machine fully.

For optimal performance and health safety, it’s advisable to clean the water filter holder and its adjacent parts at least once a month. If you use your Keurig machine daily, consider doing this more frequently, perhaps every two to three weeks.

To prevent mold growth in your Keurig machine, always use filtered water. Regularly empty and dry the water reservoir when the machine is not in use, and store it in a dry environment. Additionally, it’s beneficial to leave the lid of the water reservoir open to allow for proper air circulation.

Some key indicators that your Keurig might have mold include an unusual, musty odor coming from the machine, a change in the taste of your coffee, visible mold spots in or around the water reservoir, and the appearance of cloudy or slimy buildup inside the machine.
