How rubber bands help to collect strawberries in basins. The berries ripen quickly, and the bushes are not affected by pests

If you don’t have rubber bands or you doubt this method, I recommend using special garter designs. They save a lot of time, since you don’t have to deal with each plant separately. One of the methods is tying to a stretched rope:

  1. I drive in pegs on both sides of the bed. They must be buried so that they do not wobble, because they will have to withstand the weight of leaves and berries.
  2. I tie the ropes to the pegs, creating maximum tension. Some gardeners use plastic cord, but I prefer natural rope. The main thing is to tighten the rope well so that it can support the weight of the berries and not sink to the ground.
  3. If the beds are long and the rope sags, I install additional supports (stakes). Branches with forks at the top can be used as supports.
  4. I throw cuttings with leaves and shoots with ovaries over a stretched rope, making sure that they are above the ground. At this stage you will have to spend a lot of time.

This method will protect the plantings from dirt and rot, preserving the harvest. If the strawberries do not grow in even rows, then you will have to tie up the bushes separately. Previously, old tights were used for this, and some even tied up bushes with their own mustache.
