Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled saltine crackers, milk, diced onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Shape the mixture into oval or rectangular patties, resembling traditional steak shapes.
- Lightly coat each patty in flour, shaking off any excess.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
- Cook the patties in the skillet, browning them on both sides (about 3 minutes per side). This step is just to give color and enhance the flavor. Once browned, remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.
- Transfer the patties to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and milk to create the gravy sauce. Pour the gravy over the patties in the baking dish.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 50 minutes. After 50 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- Serve warm with mashed potatoes, buttered corn, or your favorite side dishes. Enjoy!
