Penuche Fudge Recipe

Instructions:

    1. Prepare Pan: Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
    2. Melt Butter and Sugar: In a saucepan, melt butter and add light brown sugar, evaporated milk, and salt. Stir until sugar dissolves.

  1. Boil Mixture: Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Cool and Add Vanilla: Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Add Confectioners’ Sugar: Gradually sift in confectioners’ sugar, stirring until smooth and creamy.
  4. Fold in Nuts: If using, fold in chopped pecans or walnuts.
  5. Pour into Pan: Pour fudge mixture into prepared pan. Spread evenly.
  6. Set Fudge: Let fudge cool at room temperature for 1 hour, then refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  7. Cut and Serve: Cut fudge into squares and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
