Southern Chocolate Cobbler

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish: Place the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven. Once the butter has melted, remove it and set aside.

Make the Batter: In a large bowl, stir together the 1 1/2 cups sugar, 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and vanilla extract until combined. Spoon this batter into the baking dish over the melted butter, but do not stir.

Prepare the Topping: In a separate bowl, mix together the 2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan. Carefully pour the boiling water over the topping, but do not stir.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top has set. The bottom will be loose and a bit gooey, creating that delicious fudge sauce.

Cool and Serve: Let the cobbler cool for about 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an irresistible dessert!
