The whole family loved it! I’m doubling up on the ingredients for the next batch πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³

Directions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
Heat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
  2. Prepare the Onions:
Peel and thinly slice the sweet onions. Place the sliced onions into a 9×13-inch baking dish that has been lightly greased with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Melt the Butter:
Distribute the sliced butter evenly over the onions in the baking dish. Place the dish in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the butter has melted and become bubbly.
  4. Make the Sauce:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and milk until smooth. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper, and whisk again to combine.
  5. Assemble the Casserole:
Pour the milk and flour mixture evenly over the onions in the baking dish, making sure all the onions are coated.
  6. Add Cheese:
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
  8. Cool & Serve:
Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to set and makes it easier to serve.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve Tennessee Onions as a side dish with grilled meats, such as steak or chicken, or with hearty vegetarian options like mushroom risotto or roasted vegetables. It also stands on its own as a comforting main course for a light meal.

Enjoy!
